L.A. Brewers Take Home Six GABF Medals

The Los Angeles County Brewers Guild is proud to announce that six Guild brewery members took home honors at the 2018 Great American Beer Festival held in Denver, Colorado on September 22nd. This year’s regional accolades were part of the overall 73 medals earned by California craft breweries in the annual competition spread across 103 categories.

The 2018 GABF competition saw 8,864 entries from 2,404 breweries across the country, making this event the largest commercial beer competition in the United States. L.A. Brewers earned two Gold medals, two Silver, and two Bronze medals. Winners are as follows:

Gold Medals:
Beachwood Blendery – Funk Yeah (Belgian-Style Lambic)
Claremont Craft Ales – Happy Days (Imperial Red Ale)

Silver Medals:
Bravery Brewing – The Shroud (Imperial Stout)
Pocock Brewing – It’s My Island (Classic Irish-Style Dry Stout)

Bronze Medals:
Smog City Brewing – Kumquat Saison (Belgian-Style Fruit Beer)
Trustworthy Brewing (formerly Verdugo West) – Bear Temper (Barley Wine-Style Ale)

*Beachwood Brewing’s Huntington Beach Production facility also won a Silver Medal for Udder Love (previously an award-winner out of their Long Beach brewpub).
